Just like Mitt Romney on the Republican side, Sen. Barack Obama has had to take on the question of his faith. With the campaigns now heading into the Bible Belt and internet rumors running rampant about him being a Muslim and not saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Sen. Obama felt that now was the time for him to address these rumors.

"I've been to the same church — the same Christian church — for almost 20 years," Obama said, stressing the word Christian and drawing cheers from the faithful in reply. "I was sworn in with my hand on the family Bible. Whenever I'm in the United States Senate, I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. So if you get some silly e-mail ... send it back to whoever sent it and tell them this is all crazy. Educate." (Source)

Here are the facts about Obama as they pertain to the false email that is going around:

1. His middle name is Hussein

2. His father and stepfather were muslim

3. He spent part of his childhood in Indonesia, which is a largely Muslim country but he attended Catholic school instead of going to a madrassa

4. He took his oath on the Bible. It was Rep. Keith Ellison from Minnesota who took his oath on the Quran. I know a lot of people think we all look a like but I will like to let you know that these are two completely different people.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it a sad state of affairs in this country when a person has to stand up and defend their faith. I think their actions should speak for them. George W. Bush stood up and said that he was a Born-again Christian and people voted for him on this fact alone, but yet his actions didn't speak to him being a Christian. A person can say they are apart of whatever religion as long as you will vote for them, but it is their actions that speak the real truth.
