CNN's new arts and culture show "icon," in conjunction with music magazine "Songlines," has shortlisted 20 globally renowned musicians from the past 50 years. Vote for your favorite artists and the top five will be revealed in the "icon's" interactive gallery at cnn.com/icon when the music show airs on August 25.

Now, of course you know I think there are some other artists besides the one's CNN listed that deserve iconic status such as Stevie Wonder, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Whitney Houston, The Supremes, The Temptations and so forth.  When I think of icon I think of people who change the game.  People I'll still pay money to see and they haven't come out with albums in years.  People who completely changed the trajectory of music, but that's just my two cents.

I want to know what are your most iconic musicians from the past 50 years?

Here's my tentative list of who I am feeling now (it changes constantly):

1. Michael Jackson
2. James Brown
3. Aretha Franklin
4. Stevie Wonder
5. Bob Marley
6. Ray Charles
7. Whitney Houston
8. The Supremes
9. Prince
10. Janet Jackson

Honorable Mentions:
Luther Vandross, Jimi Hendrix, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, Sade, Run DMC, Salt 'n Pepa, Gladys Knight, N.W.A., Public Enemy, Lauryn Hill

Trust me, there is more I could add but I have other things to do besides writing this post...LOL!!!  I could be here all day thinking of musicians.
