The movie 'Takers' which is scheduled to come out August 27, 2010 is definitely one of those things I would put on the 'must-see' list.  I was very fortunate to go to a private screening while at the Essence Music Festival, and let me just say that it was definitely worth it.  If the eye candy and action sequences alone don't get you to go see the film then surely all the Black Star Power backing this film should get you to want to spend your hard earned money on it.
Rainforest Films is the production team behind the movie.  Anyone not familiar with Rainforest Films allow me to give you a quick education.  Rainforest Films were created by two Florida A&M University alums (you know I had to throw that in) in 1994.  Director Rob Hardy and producer Will Packer are the dynamic duo that make up Rainforest Films.  Here is a list of films that Rainforest Films have brought to the silver screen: Obsessed, Stomp the Yard, This Christmas just to name a few (I think they like working with Idris Elba as much as I like watching him work).
There are some other well know names behind the scenes of this film.  Morris Chestnut and Chris Brown are both executive producers; whereas, T.I. and his Grand Hustle partner Jason Geter share producing credit with Will Packer.
So, again I hope everyone will go out and support this film.  I realize there are some that are just trying to pass this film off as an urban movie (not that there's anything wrong with urban movies) because it has a predominately black cast, but trust me that's not the  case with this film.  It is a true acton film on the same line of the 'Italian Job' or 'Ocean's 11'.  So if you enjoyed those films I definitely think you will enjoy this film.
Please remember that opening weekend is the most important weekend for films so you have to go see this film the weekend it comes out.  Then come back to the site and tell me what you think.

  1. I certainly hope that we will start supporting our own films more.
