With the election of President Barack Obama, the media has been hyping this notion of a Post-Racial America, but recent turn of events have suggested that this idea is more of a fantasy then it is a reality. The firing of Shirley Sherrod, the Op-Ed piece written by Senator Jim Webb, and the recent hiring of the first caucasian to head Essence Magazine fashion department has suggested that America has a long way to go if it is to ever achieve a Kumbaya moment. So the question remains can America ever become Post-Racial or should this even be the goal?
