Beverly Bond presented her annual 'Black Girl Rocks' award ceremony on BET this year. The show was filled with plenty of performances and inspiring speeches by this year's class of nominees which included the marvelous Ruby Dee, KeKe Palmer, Iyanla VanZant, Major General Marcelite Harris, Missy Elliott as well as several others.

The most touching moment of the night was the speech given by Ms. Ruby Dee. There is just something about a Legend being proud to be 'legs' this generation stands upon.

I must say I did find it ironic that a show as prolific and uplifting as 'Black Girls Rock' would be feature on a channel that has become an ultimate betrayer of black women, but that's just me. I was just happy to see the show on national TV.

Below are some of my favorite performances from the night.

Jill Scott - Golden (This is my theme song)

Kelly Price, Marsha Ambrosius, Jill Scott, and Ledisi - 4 Women

Click here to watch other performances from the show. Monica, Keri Hilson, and VV Brown respresented.
