Via Eurweb:

Seemingly from out of nowhere Sullivan, 23 and a protégé of Missy Elliott, just up and quit the business. At least that's what she announced via Twitter on Sunday; she's on hiatus 'til further notice:

"i'm making an official announcement that i am taking a break from music," she tweeted. "i'm trying to figure out who i am… w/out a mike, paper or pen. i promised myself when it wasn't fun anymore i wouldn't do it. and here i am. [sic]"

The music industry is no joke and for those wanting to get into it they only see the glamorous aspect, but rarely do they get a chance to see what actually goes on behind the scene.  I know some very talented people that have been trying to break into the industry for years.  They have more talent in their pinky then most of the 'artists' we see out today, but yet they can't seem to buy a break.  The grind and the politics can really take a lot out of an artist.  This is pretty much the same type of thing that drove Lauryn Hill out of the industry so it doesn't come as a surprise that someone as talented as Jazmine Sullivan would decided that she is done with the industry.  I just hope it isn't true because it would really be sad to not hear from a talent such as she.  Ms. Sullivan can sang most artists, out today, under the table, but yet she continually does not get the attention that someone of her caliber deserves.  Maybe if her looks were of a different aesthetic then perhaps she would get more attention from 'The Machine' but until then let's just hope she comes back and bless us with the beauty that is her voice.
