A former Atlanta high school principal, fired last week, was arrested Monday after an investigation concluded that he sent a text message with a lewd photograph to a 16-year-old girl.

Andre Lescot Williams was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail and charged with distributing obscene material to a minor. It's a misdemeanor offense, and his bond was set at $5,000.

The allegation arose from a "domestic spat" involving a love triangle that included Williams and the mother of the teen, said Cpl. Jake Smith, a spokesman for the Gwinnett Police Department.

Williams sent angry text messages to the woman, Smith said.

"In May, he began including her daughter in the text messages," he said.

That's what got Williams, the principal of Crim Open Campus High School on Memorial Drive, into trouble. He allegedly sent a picture of a part of his body to both the woman and her daughter, and police say the message to the teen was intentional because he wrote about the mother in the message.

"It was pretty clear he was aware when he sent this photograph that he was in fact sending the photo to the daughter," Smith said.

Williams had been principal at Crim High since August, and was earning a salary of $122,000, records show. The school educates students who are 16 and older and have not met with success at traditional schools.

The Atlanta Public School system replaced Williams with an interim principal two weeks ago, but Smith said he did not know whether that action was connected with Gwinnett's investigation. Atlanta schools spokesman Keith Bromery would not explain the move, saying only that Williams' replacement by assistant principal Sandra Windom was "a personnel matter."

After the AJC reviewed Williams' personnel file last week and found no mention of any departure, school officials explained that Williams was still an employee, and still, technically, the principal at Crim. Bromery said Monday night Williams was terminated last week.
