One of the biggest bombshells dominating the entertainment headlines is the fact that Mathew Knowles was accused of defrauding his superstar daughter, Beyonce. Instead of taking those allegations lying down, the famous music executive has decided to take the battle to court. The fact that this has all the makings of a Shakespearean play is not what I find the most fascinating. What has been fascinating to me is the fact that because Mathew has not been a pristine husband, many people are prone to believe that he could actually steal from his daughter.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not writing this post to examine whether or not Mathew is innocent or guilty of these allegations (he very well maybe guilty), but more so as to why so many of us think because a man is a bad husband that immediately makes him a bad father. There has never been any indication that Mathew was anything other than a devoted father to both his daughters, Beyonce and Solange. He was so devoted to his daughter to the detriment of others careers i.e. Kelly Rowland, Letoya Luckett, Michelle Williams, and Latavia Robertson. So why am I the only one who finds it curious that now he is being accused of stealing from his daughter, and somehow the people who made those allegations stood to gain the most from the split? Maybe it's just me, but something in the milk ain't right.

I'm not trying to excuse the behavior of Mathew as far as his indiscretions are concerned. The fact that he fathered a child outside of his marriage with a woman 20 years his junior is nothing short of disgusting and disgraceful, but does his inability to be a good husband makes him a horrible father? I know a lot of women who would answer yes to that question.

So how would you answer that question? Does a man's philandering ways as a husband immediately disqualify him as a father?

  1. I don't think it immediately disqualifies him, but his indiscretions against his wife shows that his integrity can be compromised. And if it can be compromised against his wife, it can be compromised against the daughter of his wife.

Men are able to compartmentalize these things, and function without guilt breaking them down. They got the guilt in one of those mental compartments and they simply don't open that stinking compartment.

I can see him convincing himself that what he was doing wasn't wrong, so it's possible IMO that he could do the same with Beyonce. Better him in control, than others who are not family to her. The minds works in interesting ways.

Of course, I could be wrong, as well as the accusers.
