I have an issue and I wanted to share it with you, my readers. I am an avid traveler who yearns to see the world. I have a desire to see the Great Wall of China, to see the beaches of Bali, take in the beauty of New Zealand, visit the slave castles in Ghana, and go on a safari in South Africa. I have dreams of doing all of these things, but yet I have a problem: I have no one to do these things with. None of my friends are that interested in traveling. So what is a girl to do? I'm thinking about joining a travel club for women, but I would love to find one that caters specifically to black women. I was also thinking about starting a travel group in conjunction with this website. I would love to get some feedback from you all because I'm a Black Woman who most definitely is willing and able to travel and wants to do so very badly.

SUGGESTIONS!

  1. I think that starting a travel group in conjunction with this blog or just starting a travel group period would be great. Also, have you thought about starting a travel group on MeetUp.com or looking for one to join on there? Not only would have other Black women to travel with but if you all got together a big enough group you could apply for group discounts on hotel stays, car rentals and probably even transportation.

    Good luck!

  4. I wonder if the people you are referring to won't even do any domestic traveling. It is more fun to travel with friends of course. If you want your friends to go, then try to bait them with more domestic traveling, they might get bit with the travel bug. I just did a google search and came across urbantravelgirl.com Sounds interesting.

I like to travel and I do have some good friends that travel also. Oddly enough, we haven't travel abroad together. A travel club is a good idea. I just wonder what existing clubs are already up and running.

  5. I think this is a great idea. I absolutely love to travel, just can't do it right now. I'm active duty military (11 years strong) and have 3 young girls at home. I joined the army because of the travel opportunities so I love going to different places and seeing new things when they send me (not Iraq or Afghanistan, but the rest is cool). I'm planning my first cruise for my 30th birthday next year and I am very excited about it. Gotta get more people on board that want to travel. Alot of people want to play it safe and stay home. They can stay while I go have fun!! Good luck and I hope you find some traveling buddies.
