I'm so sick and tired of the GOP using black people as punching bags to rile up their base. I know a young man who insists that black people should give the GOP a chance and stop putting all our eggs in one basket when it comes to the Democratic Party. My only response to that is the GOP needs to give black people a chance and stop using us as a scape-goat for what all ails America.

Black Americans are more than capable of making a decision as to what party they should support. We know who's for us and who's against us and right now it appears to be the GOP that's against us especially when you have people like Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum making asinine assertions when it comes to black people.

Here is the asinine statement that Newt Gingrich made that drew a confrontation from a New Hampshire woter, “I’m prepared, if the NAACP invites me, I’ll go to their convention and talk about why the African-American community should demand paychecks and not be satisfied with food stamps.”

Yvan Lamothe, a 59-year-old former New Hampshire state employee and small business owner, drew strong applause from the crowd when he told Gingrich that he has never taken welfare or food stamps and was offended by Gingrich’s suggestion that most African Americans do.

Being the typical politician, Gingrich immediately said he was taken out of context (typical) and then listed the thwo black folks he knew i.e. Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell to display the fact that he wasn't racist and basically how dare any one assert that he was just based on one statement.

I know this type of exchange really pains a lot of people who thought we were living in a post-racial America, but I have news for you honey this type of stuff is only the type of the iceberg. We are going to be in for a very bumpy and wild ride this election cycle.
