I'm going to take a vow of Not-Hating on this one so that means I really can't say anything other than congratulations to Mrs. Knowles-Carter.

I'm not naive enough to realize that celebrity trumps talent when it comes to a lot of these awards today (trust me I'm not saying Beyonce isn't talented), but seriously in WRITING.  Okay let me shut up.  I've already said too much.  That nasty Hate-Trait is beginning to "rear it's ugly head"...LOL!

(NY Daily News) -- Beyonce Knowles can add yet another title to her already dazzling resume - award-winning journalist.

The mogul mama, recently named People magazine's Most Beautiful woman of 2012, is set to win a writing award from the New York Association of Black Journalists on May 15.

The sexy songstress will be singled out for her July 2011 Essence magazine cover story "Eat, Play, Love," which chronicled her nine-month hiatus from the biz in 2010.

She wrote about "savoring" the "tiny moments," traveling with hubby Jay-Z, discovering her love of artichokes, jumping from yachts and going undercover as a Harajuku girl in Tokyo nightclubs.

"I'm grateful for the time I gave myself to breathe," she wrote, crediting the personal retreat with a "creative reawakening."

The Grammy winner, who gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy Carter in January, doesn't mention the miscarriage Jay-Z revealed in a recent song.

"She's a real writer. We had to edit her, but everyone gets edited except Toni Morrison," Essence entertainment director Cori Murray told The News.

  1. Ummm it is not hating to point out that her celebrity is the reason for winning this award. I read the article. I do not remember much from it. I do remember noting that it was pretty well written but still not all that remarkable. She is not a journalist. If an actual journalist wrote the same story, I do not see them winning an award for it. Sounds to me like they are trying to bring some attention to their organization

  2. I an highly offended and disturbed that NABJ is disrespecting their standards. I read that article and nothing about it was over the line. It was an average article for truth be told an average person who happens to be wealthy. It is clear that she isn't get this award for her abilities rather she is getting it because she is Beyonce.

  3. Let me get this straight. She doesn't have a high school diploma, but she is winning an award for writing. I'm sorry, the two does not match. Not to mention she can't even give a proper interview. All I can say is Wow...
