Reports are circulating all over the internet that Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry will not be returning to their starring roles on BET hit series, The Game.  Word is that both were fired from the show by the show’s producers.
Both Tia and Pooch took to Twitter to announce the news.
Here is what Tia wrote:
"Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun along the way. I am looking forward to my upcoming projects...the release of my book #OhBaby [today!]."
"Me and BET got love for each other… They are wrkin it out. I’m on a new showtime show “Ray Donovan” showtime said I can still do The Game…”
It’s just weird that a show would choose to write the main characters off.  I mean don’t get me wrong, the show has definitely gone downhill since its transition to BET.  It’s definitely not the same show.  I don’t know if it’s the fact that it’s on BET or the quality of writers is just not the same as it was when the show was on the CW.
Many of the people who fought to have this show moved to BET have been severely disappointed by the reincarnation on BET.  It definitely has not lived up to expectations, and I’m of the right mind to say just cancel the show already.
The damage has been done.  I’ll miss Tasha Mack and Jason Pitts, but the show is ruined for me.  This dismissal of Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry is just the final nail in an already finished coffin.
This now offers a better understanding to the direction the show has taken as of late.  Melanie’s sudden need to do an internship at Johns Hopkins now makes sense since the characters are now being written off the show.
And here is what Pooch wrote on his Twitter feed:

  1. I have actually forgotten about the show. I watched the first few episodes on BET but did not care for the direction of the show nor its quality. I am sure the actors did their best with what they were given but the storylines for the characters were shallow. Melanie and Derwin are the main characters. It is pointless to have the show without them.

  2. This was a quality show while on THE CW. The storyline and plot took a nosedive. I don't think adding Brandy to the cast helped she seems so angry needs to be softened up a bit to be believable. I will watch until cancelled

  3. I'm definitely disappointed. I feel like they asked fans to campaign so hard for this show to be revived and the main stars of the show decided to leave after two seasons on BET. That was a waste.

If they do go on to do a second season, I hope they bring Kelly back and get a new Britney. I think this season the writers were still trying to adjust. I do give BET kudos for what they have done in trying to keep the show interesting and fresh though. They did tackle more real life issues like infertility, sober living and other aspects that audience members could related to.
