Oprah has definitely got the internet buzzing with the debut of her natural tresses on the September cover of 'O' magazine.  Rocking what appears to be a braid-out, Oprah rejects her signature straight style for a fabulous textured look.  It is the first time she's rocked her natural tresses on the cover of the publication in its 12 year history.

People all over the internet are defintiely buzzing about the look.  It's created the same amount of buzz as the 'doctored' photo of Michelle Obama rocking natural hair.  I must say it would be cool to see the FLOTUS rocking her natural tresses for all the world to see.

Oprah even takes out the time to discuss her natural hair journey in her 'What I Know For Sure' section of the magazine.  She opens up about her personal hair journey, rocking her hair natural on weekends/vacations and what role it plays in the expression of "self."

Personally, I've always seen hair as an accessory.  Having a beautician as a mother is one of the reasons I view hair the way I do.  I've had my hair relaxed, braided, curled, fried, dyed, and laid to the side.  Currently, I'm rocking a full sew in weave as I transitioned from relaxed hair back to my natural hair.  Once the transistion is complete then I may do something else.  It all depends on how I'm feeling and what type of mood I'm in when it comes to my hair.  I don't wear my hair a particular way to please other people.  I wear it the way I want to wear it.  It has absolutely nothing to do with my blackness but more so it has everything to do with how I choose to express myself.  Because guess what?  At the end of the day, it's MY hair and I'll do with it whatever the hell I want to do with it.

  1. Her hair is full and beautiful. That is her natural hair but it still took some work to get it to look like that for this cover. I would think having her own stylist with her almost all of the time, she would be able to wear it in a number of natural styles as often as she would like to.

For me, personally, going natural gives my hair a break from heat. So a couple of times a year I do not straighten it. seeing this cover reminds me that I have yet to do that this year, so I might do just that for the next couple of weeks.
