Michael Vick just can't seem to catch a break when it comes to his past involve dog-fighting.

The internet was all in an uproar when a picture of the NFL quarterback with his pet dog went viral.

Animal activists appeared to be the most vocal when it came to expressing their disgust with the NFL superstar.

I'm sure Vick was unaware there was a lifetime ban in place for him when it came to owning a pet.  But with that being said, Vick handled the situation with complete grace by posting a statement on his Facebook page addressing the issue.

Here's what he wrote:

I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family’s decision to care for a pet. As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals. I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family. This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change.

I don't know what else this man can do to satisfy these people.  As far as most animal rights activits are concerned, Michael Vick is always going to be a pariah.  There's not enough atonement in the world to ever get these people to forgive him of his past crimes against animals.
