Last night BET premiered the movie "Being Mary Jane" which is an introduction to the channel's new series which will bear the same name.  The series is scheduled to come out in 2014 and it was created by the same woman behind "Girlfriends" and "The Game."

The movie starred famed actress Gabrielle Union as Mary Jane Paul a successful sista that has it going on career wise, but just can't seem to get her personal life to match that success.  I bet that sounds really familiar to a lot of us out there.

***Fingers Crossed*** But if the series is anything like the film, then this may definitely be one of my favorite series next year. I could definitely relate to Mary Jane.  My family might not be as dysfunctional as hers, but my love life is equally as complicated sans the love triangle.

Did you watch it?  I would love to hear what you have to say because after watching the film there is a lot I want to say, but I don't want to spoil the film for those who haven't watched.

  1. I watched. Some parts were relatable. Some parts were not. I appreciate wanting to tell an untold story. I appreciate giving great actors work. However, the frustrations I feel as a single black women are not nrcessarily eased because of having someone I can relate to on television. I'm just sayin...So I am left to wonder what the social expectations are of this show.

  2. I watched the show and I enjoyed it. At times it was comical and at times it was serious like everyday struggles in life. I am proud to see a black television show. instead of black people making a fool of themselves on reality tv it's such a disgrace. But overall I thought Gabrielle did her thing great show can't wait to see it next week.
