Author and beloved feminist, bell hooks, has come up with a counter-campaign to Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg, Ban Bossy campaign.

Sandberg's campaign believes that a lot of you girls are dissuaded from being leaders by being referred to as 'bossy.'  She believes the word should be ban in order for young girls to see the value in being leaders.

Based on some tweets that were recently sent out by bell hooks, she clearly has a different point of view when it comes to the word.

So what do you think?  Who's side are you leaning more towards: hook's or Sandberg's?  Either way, I think it makes for a very interesting debate.

  1. "Bossy" is not a term of endearment for women and there are negative repercussions for being viewed that way. To embrace the term is to embrace the negativity associated with it. Both campaigns are asking for a paradigm shift. I'm in favor of the one that is more likely to deal with the root of the problem.
